HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A parade, a vintage car show, and a tulip dig are a couple of the events highlighting this week’s list of things to do in the Holland area!
5/30 Monday: Memorial Day Parade in Downtown Holland- Memorial Day is a day we gather to remember those who died in service so that we might be free. The people of Holland, Michigan would like to say thank you, at least in some small way, to those who served. We invite you to join us. If you are a veteran, let us honor your service. If you have lost someone, let us share your memories. Come and walk and ride with us. We hope to see you there! Parade Route: 1.5 Miles. Begins on Corner of 8th Street & Central Avenue. Heads east on 8th Street to Columbia Avenue, south on Columbia Avenue to 16th Street, and finally east on 16th Street to Pilgrim Cemetery. 9:30am; Free.
5/31 Tuesday: Knickerbocker Spring Film Series: Sweet Bean- “Fast” Eddie Felson is a small-time pool hustler with a lot of talent but a self-destructive attitude. His bravado causes him to challenge the legendary “Minnesota Fats” to a high-stakes match, but he loses in a heartbreaking marathon. Now broke and without his long-time manager, Felson faces an uphill battle to regain his confidence and his game. It isn’t until he hits rock bottom that he agrees to join up with ruthless and cutthroat manager Bert Gordon. Gordon agrees to take him on the road to learn the ropes. But Felson soon realizes that making it to the top could cost him his soul, and perhaps his girlfriend. 6/1 Wednesday: Yoga at the Outdoor Discovery Center- Yoga is a calming exercise where men and women have the ability to connect to the natural environment through strength, core, stretching, balance and relaxation poses along with deep breathing exercises. All skill levels are welcome. Punch cards are available for purchase and include one free yoga class after buying 9. Member punch card fee is $45 for 10 classes and $63 for non-members. 6/2 Thursday: Holland Civic Theatre: The Lies that Bind- A full length stage play which was named one of the Top 100 New Plays by Writer’s Digest in 2009. Bobby Tyler, adopted at birth and now 21 years old, seeks information about his birth parents from his mother and aunt. His search uncovers layers of family secrets and lies that culminate in the destruction of the one person the family needed to protect the most. 50 West Ninth Street, Holland; 7:30pm; $10-$18.
6/3 Friday: “Remember When” Cruise & Car Show in Downtown Holland- The Holland Vintage Car Club is planning their “Remember When” Cruise & Car Show for Downtown Holland. Bring the kids and grandkids..show them what they are missing out on. Even if you don’t have a car, grab a lawn chair, put on the Levis, t-shirts, cool shades & come Join the Fun! Open to all Antique, Classic, Custom, & Hot Rod Vehicles. 6/4 Saturday: Third Annual Tulip Dig at Centennial Park, Windmill Island, and Window on the Waterfront. For just $10 for a 5-gallon bucket, you can dig beautiful bubs to be transplanted in your own yard or garden. Bring your own pitchfork and bucket, and get ready to dig! 6/5 Sunday: Mark Lavengood Concert at Camp Blodgett- Join Camp Blodgett this summer on the deck of the Loeks Retreat Center at for the 2016 Acoustic Sunset Concert Series.
