FILLMORE TWP., MI (WHTC) – The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash overnight south of Holland that killed a 16-year-old Hamilton High student.
Deputies were dispatched to M-40 north of 136th Avenue around 3 AM and found a 1980 Mazda that had left the roadway and appeared to have rolled over several times. A single driver, identified as Shawn Lee Marroquin, could not be revived by first responders and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allegan County Medical Examiner’s Office. According to Sheriff’s Captain Chris Kuhn, Marroquin was living with his grandparents, he wasn’t buckled up, and the vehicle wasn’t equipped with airbags.
Deputies didn’t disclose any other circumstances surrounding the incident. A graveside service in Restlawn Memorial Gardens for Marroquin is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
