HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Three people were pulled from a burning vehicle in Allegan County after it left the roadway and struck several trees before starting on fire at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday June 2, 2016.
According to Captain Chris Kuhn of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, several “Good Samaritans” stopped and pulled the three occupants from the burning vehicle and emergency services arrived a short time later to extinguish the burning vehicle. Callers to Allegan County Dispatch received calls that the vehicle had left the roadway and struck several trees on 102nd Avenue and 62nd Street in Casco Township.
The driver of the vehicle Caroline Norman, 70, of Pullman suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to South Haven Hospital then she was evaluated and then transported by West Michigan Air Care to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Her front seat passenger, adopted son Terrance Norman, 45, was transported to South Haven Hospital while the backseat passenger, a minor child of Norman’s, was flown from the scene by West Michigan Air Care to Bronson Hospital.
As of yesterday afternoon, Caroline Norman was still in the trauma unit while her granddaughter was in the PICU at Bronson Hospital. Terrance Norman is listed in good condition at South Haven Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation at this time and no reason has been determined as to why the vehicle left the roadway. Information on seatbelt use is unavailable at this time.
