HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 19-year-old Holland man is free on three thousand dollars bond following arraignment on charges stemming from a vehicle and foot chase last evening.
Anton Joseph Garcia was taken into custody after trying to elude Holland Public Safety officers and Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputies in the area of South Washington Avenue and Matt Urban Drive. Garcia allegedly stole a tan Chevrolet Yukon from the area of 11 hundred block of South Washington Avenue last Tuesday. The owner of that SUV spotted the vehicle leaving a driveway in the area of 40th Street and South Washington around 5:30 last evening and attempted to corner Garcia, who then sped off with the victim in pursuit. Authorities were eventually dispatched to 144th and Ottawa where Garcia crashed the SUV and fled on foot.
Garcia was charged with driving on a suspended license and resisting and obstructing police. Holland Public Safety Captain Jack Dykstra said that additional counts may be sought as the matter remains under investigation.
