ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – During Monday night’s scheduled Zeeland City Council meeting, the panel will be urged by City Manager Tim Klunder to approve a tenative agreemnt with the Zeeland Unit of the Police Officer Labor Council for a three-year deal that begins on July 1st. The union was expected to vote on the matter prior to council’s meeting. In his memo to council members ahead of this session, Klunder said that he and Mayor Kevin Klynstra “will immediately begin to set the process we will utilize” to find a replacement for Bill Gruppen, who announced a week ago that he will retire as Fire Chief on November 7th after 52 years of service to the department, the last 38 as its chief.
