GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids has cautioned swimmers to avoid Lake Michigan from South Haven to Ludington. The 18-hour advisory runs through 8 PM on Monday. Forecasters predict southwest to west winds coming off of the lake will lead to high wave action with “strong structural and longshore currents expected,” leading to “dangerous swimming conditions.” A cold front with a shift of winds to the northwest should relieve the situation by Monday evening.
