HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – 9th Street Construction is on schedule and the project will be transitioning into Phase B after the 4th of July Holiday.
According to the City of Holland, beginning on Tuesday, July 5, College Avenue will be closed between 8th Street and 10th Street until mid August. The traffic signal at 4th and Pine will become functional again as well. Starting Wednesday July 6, 9th Street will be closed between Pine Avenue and River Avenue till mid August.
Once the decision was made to switch from coal to natural gas promoted a new location, that put into motion everything residents and visitors are experiencing says City Manager Ryan Cotton.
Cotton said he thanks everyone for their patience. “It’s all for the long term gain of keeping the snowmelt system functioning, by making the new connections and also expanding. In various ways it’s also saving the city and residents time and inconvenience in the long term….but short term pain.” Cotton said.
River Avenue will be reduced down to one northbound lane through the intersection at 9th Avenue as the contractor lays snowmelt mains. 9th Street and River is expected to be restored with both northbound lanes open by the end of the day Saturday.
