GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – A 21-year-old White Lake man has succumbed to injuries suffered in a Monday afternoon crash on I-96 near Coopersville.
Jack Flynn was a passenger in a SUV that drifted off of the eastbound lanes past the 68th Avenue exit into the median and then veered sharply right across the highway and smashed head-on into a tree. Flynn and driver Craig Vernon, also of White Lake, were buckled up at the time of the crash, and it took first responders 45 minutes before they were able to be freed from the vehicle. Both men were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital, where Vernon was treated for his injuries and released.
Sheriff’s deputies are awaiting results of toxicology tests before submitting the case to the County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
