WALKER, MI (WHTC) – Fire fighters from several departments have now reportedly brought an overnight fire at the Turner Recycling-Padnos Iron and Metal facility under control, although smoke could be still seen wafting over as dawn broke.
Walker Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Munn told reporters at the scene that that scrap metal at the complex off of Turner Avenue ignited to start the blaze, with explosions heard near the scene, and flames shooting more than 80 feet into the air. Munn added that air quality in the area was “not a concern,” and that there have been no reported injuries thus far.
