ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – Zeeland Township is moving forward on the township’s first disorderly conduct and noise ordinaces.
At their meeting Tuesday night, the township had their first reading of the ordinances and must wait 30 days for the final reading with an opportunity to make changes before the final reading.
The noise ordinance is punishable by a fine of $50 plus costs for noise heard from 50 feet away from a person’s home. There are also fines for repeat offenders.
The disorderly conduct ordinance carries a $50 fine and is punishable by up to $500 and/or 90 days in jail.
Zeeland Township Supervisor Greg Nykamp told WHTC news that these ordinances are byproducts of the growth of the community. The next meeting is scheduled for July 19.
