GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – Sometimes ignorance is not bliss, especially when it comes to aquatic invasive species.
The first 10 days in July have been designated as “Michigan’s Third Annual Aquatic Invasive Species Landing Blitz” by the state departments of Environmental Quality, Natural Resources and Agriculture and Rural Development. At various boat landings across Michigan, local volunteer partners spread the word about preventing the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species from the movement of watercraft and equipment between water bodies.
It’s the first year that the Ottawa County Parks Department is participating in what is now a three-year-old statewide program, with staffers on hand at Riverside Park in Grand Haven from 12 Noon to 4 PM this Saturday and Sunday.
More information about invasive species in this state is available online.
