HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) City of Holland Mayor Nancy De Boer issued a statement on Facebook this afternoon on the shootings in Dallas that took the lives of 5 police officers while wounding several others. De Boer appeared live earlier today on the WHTC Morning News with Gary Stevens and Mary Ellen Murphy and included comments on the tragedy in Dallas during her discussion.
De Boer’s Facebook post stated:
In these strained times of emotion and apparent racial injustice, concerned and caring citizens walked with dignity in Holland last night from Maple Avenue Ministries to the HPD building.We realize the horror of situations throughout the country. Thank-you for your dignity and grace.
On this day that begins with the worst attack on police in the history of the nation since 9.11.01, I am compelled to reach out to Holland’s finest, those committed to run into the line of fire to protect the citizens and the liberties we enjoy in the United States of America. Without you, we are swallowed into anarchy.
Please accept our sympathy, our respect, and our deep appreciation for you and your noble profession. There are no words to summarize the value of your faithful investment in the safety and community relationships of this fine city.
We stand with you and our hearts go out to you and your families today.
