HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Could what happened in Dallas and in other parts of the country happen here? That’s a question on everyone’s mind.
If it were to happen in Holland is the HDPS prepared? Captain Keith Mulder says yes. He says their officers are highly trained. They believe very strongly in training from use of force and how they deal with the public and de-escalation. Mulder told WHTC News “Everyday officers are out there making split-second decisions and most officers are trying their best. In split second decisions there will always be judgement calls afterwards that can second guess what happened,especially if you only see a partial clip from a video.”
Mulder says mistakes could happen. “Absolutely. They could happen anywhere. We’re all human.”
Dallas is looking to get back to some sense of normalcy today as several buildings downtown will re-open following the worst attack on law enforcement since 9-11.
President Obama is set to travel to Dallas tomorrow for a memorial service.
