HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The August Primary is on the first Tuesday of next month and the League of Women Voters of the Holland Area are hosting a Candidate Forum for Park Township.
The league does not support or oppose any candidates says Penny Shuff, Publicity Chair. “We just want to provide the conduit and vehicle for the candidates to do just that” Shuff says. A
Attempts to put a forum together in the past have not been successful due to candidates not wanting to participate. Shuff told WHTC News that you would think that a challenger would want to participate in a forum. “I’m confused by that” she says. “The primary is incredibly important here and in a town where people vote the same way, this pretty much settles it sometimes.”
There are eight candidates running for four Park Township Trustee positions with seven Republicans and one Democrat. Members of the audience are invited to ask questions of the candidates.
It takes place tonight, July 13, at Park Township Hall on 152nd Avenue in Holland from 7-9 p.m.
