HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – In light of the latest outrage that involved large loss of life comes the realization that something such as what happened in France could happen anywhere in the world.
Holland Mayor Nancy DeBoer’s sentiments of not taking any day for granted, or any security procedure for granted, may be shared by other governmental leaders following the deaths of over 80 people when a trucker plowed his vehicle at full speed into a large group celebrating Bastille Day in Nice. Talking on “WHTC Morning News” on Friday, the first-term leader of the Tulip City told Chris Alan that “you have to always be aware of possiblities. You may seem to others to go overboard in caution, but when you replay the tape, you think, ‘whoa, you stopped something that could have been horrible.’
DeBoer added that sometimes you have to make decisions that not everybody will agree with because they may seem as if “you’re not caring,” but you have to make those decisions that are for the best in the community, and “I would always rather err on the side of caution.”
