HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The city of Holland will join over 16,000 communities throughout the nation for National Night Out-“America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
The event is tonight, August 2 at Kollen Park. Marianna Manderfield Public Information Coordinator for the City of Holland says there will be alot of activity tonight.
“There will be music, kids games, a pie eating contest, free hotdogs, a car show, horse rides, karate demonstrations and just a wonderful event for families in Holland. It’s a wonderful opportunity to mingle with your neighbors.” Manderfield also adds it’s America’s night out against crime and the community collaborating with the police is a special event.
You’ll be able to sign up for the Holland Junior Police Academy or the Citizen’s Police Academy. A former Detroit Tiger Dave Rozema will be on hand too as a guest of LAUP (Latin Americans United for Progress).
After the celebration, residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights and get out and mingle with their neighbors from 8-10 p.m. or stay in the park until dusk to enjoy the movie “Star Wars-The Force Awakens.” All activities are free.
In addition to the event, residents are invited to mark their block on an area wide map and sign an anti-crime commitment banner.
The event is at Kollen Park from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday August 2nd, 2016.
