GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC) – Deputies say that alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash south of Grand Haven in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jay Douglas, a unnamed Grand Haven Township man was driving northbound on 156th Avenue, apparently at a high rate of speed. His vehicle went through the T-intersection at Buchanan Street, down an embankment and smashed into a tree in a wooded area below. He was trapped for “some time” before first responders were able to extricate him, and he was taken to Mercy-Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, initially listed in stable condition.
Douglas added that the case will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for review once the investigation into the incident is complete.
