ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – Two persons from Otsego were arraigned on various charges stemming from an alleged crime spree that put them in the Allegan County Jail for this past weekend.
Thirty-three-year-old Kenneth E. Lapham was arraigned in Allegan District Court on breaking and enterting, vehicle theft and felony firearm counts, while his 21-year-old girlfriend Haley Jenkins was charged with B&E and UDAA.
Last Thursday morning, the couple fled the Watson Township home of Jenkins’ sister in a stolen vehicle. Later in the afternoon, when they smashed up the sister’s car, the two suspects then broke into a nearby residence, grabbed some food and a handgun, and drove off with another car. Two hours later, that vehicle was dumped at another residence, where a pickup truck, a revolver and some money was grabbed.
The trek ended around 9:30 PM when deputies and detectives discovered the stolen truck at the male suspect’s home, along with the couple, who were arrested without incident.
Preliminary hearing dates for Lapham and Jenkins were not immediately disclosed.
