HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – An free event for kids on farm safety will take place in Holland this Saturday, August 20.
The Allegan and Ottawa County Farm Bureaus are hosting the event for kids ages 8-14. Blogger, farm wife, and Hudsonville farmer Diane Loew stressed the importance of the event during her weekly segment Random Ramblings from a farm wife on WHTC Morning News.
“Every three days a child dies in an ag-related accident. Most occur in the Midwest and the majority of the dealths are from tractors and skid steers. I do know that some farms will incorporate their kids at an early age to help. We were very fortunate that are kids were a bit older before they got involved with this type of equipment.” Loew said.
The event will go over 911 livestock and bio security safety, chemical safety, fire safety and lawn mower and tractor safety. There will be door prizes. giveaways, refreshments and free t-shirts for the 1st 100 kids.
The event starts at 8:30 a.m. and will run till 12:00 p.m. at GreenMark Equipment, 4098 Lincoln in Holland.
