POLKTON TWP, MI (WHTC) – A farming accident sent a Olivet man to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wilfong says Jamie Gawne, 44, was driving a farming implement on Garfield just west of 88th Stree in Polkton Township when it hit a tree and he was pinned in the cab of the tractor.
The terragator which is used to spread manure, lost it’s hydraulic pressure causing Gawne to lose steering and breaks. He went off the road, into a ditch and struck a tree at around 8:30 p.m. Monday, August, 22. The impact caused Gawne to be pinned in the cabin of the tractor for about an hour.
Gawne was extricated by Coppersville/ Polkton Fire Rescue and transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
