HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – More road construction in Holland will cause travel delays so the City of Holland is reminding motorists to allow for extra time for commutes.
Beginning today, August 24, State Street will be closed at 21st Street. Pavement will be removed followed by underground work to prepare for repaving of State Street. Preliminary work is expected to be completed on or before Friday, September 9. Northbound State Street traffic will be detoured west on 22nd Street and north on MichIgan Avenue. Southbound State Street traffic will be detoured southwest on Michigan Ave and east on 22nd Street.
On Central Avenue construction will resume between 16th and 21st and State Streets. This work will begin with mulling of the road surface and followed by underground utility work. The project should be complete mid-November.
Residents should be able to access their homes except when excavation work is taking place directly in front of their home. All traffic will be required to detour via the posted detour or another north/south street.
