LANSING, MI – The 13th Republican candidate for Michigan governor has officially entered the field.
Businessman Perry Johnson made his announcement in Lansing Wednesday, pledging to bring “quality” to government by improving schools and roads and says he’s a conservative who opposes abortion and favors gun rights.
In his kick-off rally, Johnson criticized Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s handling of the pandemic. He said she should have loosened restrictions more quickly, so people got their “liberty” back as soon as possible.
Johnson, 74, is the founder of Perry Johnson Registrars, a Troy-based firm that helps other companies comply with government and industry certification standards.
