ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC) – Two men are in custody in connection with an armed robbery of a pizzeria near the GVSU campus earlier this week.
During the overnight hours on Wednesday, an employee of the Peppino’s in Allendale had closed the establishment and was attempting to enter his vehicle when two men, one with a handgun, approached and demanded money. They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, while the victim was shaken but unhurt.
Although the suspects wore bandanas to cover their faces, it took less than 48 hours for Sheriff’s Captain Mark Bennett and his fellow detectives to track the alleged robbers down. Tips on Thursday led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Allendale man and a 27-year-old man initially identified as only being from Kent County. They were apprehended on unrelated warrants, with charges stemming from this crime forthcoming from the county prosecutor’s office.
The case remains open, and tips to Silent Observer are still welcome.
