HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A Holland Woman is in stable condition after a being pulled out of her vehicle before it caught fire during the afternoon commute Tuesday, September 6.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wilfong says deputies were dispatched to the crash on US-31 and 8th Street in Holland at around 4:42 p.m. Barbuhelga Coleman, 37, of Holland was driving north on US-31 and failed to stop at the red light at 8th Street.
Coleman was then struck by Cory Van Doren, 41, of Scotts who was westbound on 8th Street in a 2016 Jeep. After the collision Coleman struck another vehicle southbound on US-31 driven by David Prior, 63, of Spring Lake. Prior’s vehicle then slid backwards and stuck a vehicle driven by Adriana Sikkenga, 21, of Holland.
After the collision Coleman’s vehicle overturned and bystanders pulled Coleman out of her vehicle before it caught fire. There were no other injuries in the crash.
Holland Township Fire Rescue responded to the crash and Coleman was transported to an area hospital by AMR ambulance. She was cited for running a red light.
The highway was reopened about 90 minutes after the crash.
