WEST OLIVE, MI (WHTC) – The spending plan for Ottawa County Government in 2017 should be finalized today.
County Administrator Al Vanderberg and Fiscal Services Director Karen Karasinski are recommending to the Board of Commissioners during this afternoon’s meeting that they approve a total budget of 179.3 million dollars, 79.8 million involving the General Fund. The two staffers say that the financial blueprint is balanced, with not much dipping into cash reserves, little or no impact on the level of services to county residents, and staying within the current 3.6 mills operating millage. This is due, they say, to a continued increase in property tax value, reasonable increases in health care expenditures, and a small increase in state revenue sharing.
Vanderberg and Karasinski added that the budget “provides a road map of the County’s efforts towards meeting its vision statement of being the place where you belong (italics in their overall presentation statement to the board).”
