HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The last stages of a major road project in downtown Holland is slated to begin today.
Depending on the weather, crews will lay down, around 8 AM, a tack from the western edge of the 9th Street renovation effort, off of Van Raalte Avenue, all the way to the eastern edge, at the 8th Street junction. About 90 minutes later, paving work begins, going west to east. It should take a couple of hours for the asphalt to cure, so there will be temporary road and driveway blockages. If there is inclement weather, Thursday will be the make up date for the project that has been ongoing since after Tulip Time.
Next Monday, crews start making permanent paving markings and signage that will make 9th Street a two-way thoroughfare from Van Raalte to Pine Avenues; 9th Street will remain one-way eastbound from Pine Avenue to the 8th Street junction.
Also today, 8th Street will be blocked off from River to Pine Avenues through October 31st, as crews will be working on underground utility and snowmelt lines for the GDK Construction development at 44 West 8th Street.
