HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Both of Ottawa County’s two institutions of higher education are dealing with a sexual assault problem as a new academic year is underway.
Hope College put out an email alert last night after disclosing that a fourth such incident on campus over the past month was reported over the weekend. In the statement, school officials say that a different person in each incident was known to the different victims and that alcohol was involved, but there was no mention of any arrests made or of any other details of the incidents. The posting also listed on-campus resources available for those who experience or witness sexual assault.
Grand Valley State has also dealt with four sexual assault cases since the start of the current school year, with investigators believing that they could all be related, but as in Holland, there have been no arrests disclosed in the Allendale-area incidents.
