Shirley was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. As a fiercely independent young woman, Shirley started her career off as a secretary where she met and married her husband, William Holland. Together they owned multiple cemeteries in Florida and Michigan. In 1965 they moved to Holland, Michigan, and purchased Restlawn Memorial Gardens. That same year, they started a cemetery supply company named Holland Supply, Inc which continues as a three-generation family business. All of this while being a devoted mother raising her three daughters.
After Shirley retired, she and her husband spent much of their time in Florida golfing and enjoying family and friends. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In Shirley’s last days on earth, she shared that she was ready and eager to be with Jesus Christ, her savior. On February 17, 2022, while living at the Warm Friend in Holland, Shirley peacefully passed away with family at her bedside. The family would like to give a special thank you to Josi Campos, Ines Saurez, and Adriana Cervantes for their friendship and the loving care they provided to Shirley in her last few years.
Shirley is proceeded in death by her husband, William Holland; parents, Maude and Paul Little; and sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Sam) Rusch.
