SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 21, 2022) – An opportunity to learn more about how a municipality runs and how it is funded is available in Saugatuck.
That Lakeshore community has a couple of openings on the Board of Review for alternate members. According to the City Clerk’s office, these alternates could sub for an absent regular member or step in when a regular member seeks to be recused due to conflict of interest.
The board could also serve as a springboard into further municipal government involvement, according to Saugatuck Mayor Garnet Lewis, who chaired this panel before winning election to the City Council. “It’s actually not as dull as it sounds,” she said on “WHTC Morning News” during a recent appearance. “It’s actually very interesting, especially when folks come in front of the board asking for exceptions; it’s always very interesting to see how they rationalize what they want.”
More information on applying for alternate positions on the Saugatuck Board of Review is here.
