GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 19-year-old Grand Haven woman was seriously injured in a pre-dawn crash on Sunday southeast of her hometown.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, Kendall Richards was alone as she was driving her car westbound on Lincoln Street around 5:30 AM. She had passed 152nd Avenue when she either fell asleep behind the wheel or had a medical condition. Her vehicle drove on the gravel shoulder for about a hundred yards before striking several mailboxes, rolling over several times, and crashing into a tree in the front yard of a residence. Buckled up at the time, Richards had to be extricated by first responders and was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
