GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – A mass shooting at a party in a strip mall in Grand Rapids has left one man dead and eight other injured.
Twenty-one-year-old Juwan Boykin was killed early Sunday morning, October 9, and and Grand Papids Ploice Sergeant Terry Dixon says the other eight victims are expected to survive.
According to Dixon, when officers were dispatched just before 4 a.m.to the strip mall in the 18-hundred block of 28th Street SE they weren’t initially aware of a mass shooting that killed one and injured eight.
Between 60 and 80 people were at the party and police hope someone will have information leading them to those responsible for the shootings.
Of the victims who survived, four are men between 20 and 34, and the other four are women between 19 and 35. Some have been treated and released, while others are still hospitalized according to police.
