SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC) – In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, the death toll continues to rise in the U.S. and Haiti with cholera starting to spread. International Aid is a Christian relief ministry who is there to help.
The ministry located in Spring Lake started in 1980. They distribute life-saving medicines, hygiene products, nutritional supplements and reconditioned medical equipment to hundreds of ministries and humantarian organizations in areas of greatest need.
Brian Anderson President and CEO tells WHTC News the ministry is primarily health focused providing medicine and hygiene type products. “The lab is a suitcase is one of the featured things that we do which allows us to do lab testing in extremely remote areas. It is self-contained in a hard case suitcase and comes with all the consumables needed to do lab testing. Our lab in our building refurbishes medical equipment and sends that around the world as well.”
Anderson says hygiene kits are what is needed and they are sending them out right now in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. “Hygiene is so important now to help reduce the spread of disease especially and right now that is a big concern in Haiti”
Anderson says financial support is the best way to help as it gives them the flexibility to do what is needed, where it’s needed. Volunteers are also needed to help year round to help pack the hygiene kits and they do a packing event once a month.
