ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – Is the retention of 42 jobs worth awarding an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption Certificate from the City of Zeeland?
That’s a question that City Council members in that Lakeshore community will decide in a special meeting this evening. Mead Johnson is seeking such a 12-year break in order to build an 80-foot-high building addition at its 22.3 acre site off of East Main Avenue at a cost of over 8.7 million dollars. The infant and children food producer says that the project wouldn’t create any new jobs, but would insure that 42 employees would remain in the area.
A 6 PM public hearing at Zeeland City Hall is slated before council goes over the matter and makes a final vote on the IFT Certificate resolution before the panel.
