HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – Things are moving quickly as the months-long US-31 renovation project on Holland’s North Side winds down.
Leo Evans at the Michigan Department of Transportation office in Muskegon that is overseeing the overhaul of the highway from 8th to Ransom streets says that final paving on the median lane and shoulder of southbound lanes should “wrap up tonight into tomorrow morning. Tomorrow night, we will start to work on paving the outside lanes and shoulders … and is expected to take 3-4 nights to complete, followed by an additional 2-3 days for the pavement markings and the remainder of the traffic signal and signing work to be wrapped up in those lanes.”
This work will require southbound US-31 to be reduced to one lane of traffic, along with other short-term restrictions, and there will be intermittent intersection closures of one to two hours in length. Evans adds that crews are still on target for a November 18th date to complete most of the project that began on May 15th.
