HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Setting the financial foundation for the renovation of the Holland Civic Center highlights this evening’s scheduled Holland City Council meeting.
The panel is expected to approve a resolution authorizing the issuing of Limited Tax General Obligation Bonds in the amount of 13 million, 560 thousand dollars. Although Council had initially capped the amount of debt for the Civic Center building at 10 million, the additional amount would be directed towards snowmelt transmission costs that would facilitate the district heat component of the project. If the resolution is passed, City Manager Ryan Cotton said that the bonds would likely be issued in early December.
Also during this meeting, which begins in chambers at Holland City Hall at 7 PM, there will be procedural first readings of proposed ordinance amendments that would make Centennial Park off-limits to alcohol sales, possession and consumption, as well as establishing a daily seven-hour closure of municipal parks from 11 PM to 6 AM to cut down on transients who currently camp out overnight. Final votes on those measures would be at the next business meeting on November 16th.
