HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 53-year-old West Olive woman was initially listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash on Holland’s North Side on Thursday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin, Heather Dewind was driving eastbound on New Holland Street around 8 AM and had stopped for the stop sign at 120th Avenue. She then moved her car forward into the intersection and directly into the path of a northbound semi hauling sawdust. The two vehicles veered into a nearby tree, and the force of the broadside collision caused the automobile to be wrapped around the front of the truck.
First responders extricated a pinned Dewind and took her to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment. The trucker, 61-year-old Douglas Spriensma of Coopersville, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
