HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Republican Mary Whiteford has proclaimed victory in the 80th District for State Representative in Allegan County.
In 2016 it was a different story for Whiteford. She told WHTC News that she’s mindful of the adventure she’s been through. ” You never know when something is going to happen and just knocks you down. It’s a lot of faith, hard work and sticking with your family. I followed through with my promises and I’ve done my best and I’m just tickled pink and honored that I’ve been given the chance to serve a full two years.”
Whiteford said with term limits it really puts a big restriction with what many people are capable of doing so we need a big picture viewpoint.
One of the issues she will work on is revenue sharing to make sure tax dollars get back to the local communities, police and firefighters. Whiteford also wants to highlight the Kalamazoo River and get a long term plan for recreation.
Whiteford said with her kids grown and out of the house she has the time and the commitment to work at a higher level at the State level.
