HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Two ordinance amendments could become the law in Holland tonight.
It’s the second and final reading of resolutions that, if passed by the City Council, would prohibit alcoholic beverages from being served, possessed, consumed or sold at Centennial Park. It would then join Kollen Park, Van Bragt Park, Smallenburg Park and Prospect Park on a list of municipal parks that have such a prohibition.
The other resolution would establish a daily 11 PM-6 PM curfew for all city parks outside of special events. The measure would cut down on transients who would camp out in areas such as the gazebo in Centennial Park, creating messes and causing disturbances. Strolling through the park would still be allowed under the new ordinance.
Also during tonight’s 7 PM meeting in Chambers at City Hall, Council will hold public hearings before voting on Brownfield Plans for a new DeBoer Bakkerij bakery off of West 16th Street, as well as a new Minit Mart at the former Sam’s Grocery site off of East 15th Street. Both projects are planned to become reality sometime next year.
