GEORGETOWN TWP, MI (WHTC) – The body of the man found in the Grand River on Thursday, November 17, has tentatively been identified.
Captain Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says detectives received many leads and based on tattoos and other characteristics, the medical examiner has identified the man as 28-year-old Dion Robert Heys of Grand Rapids. Medical examiners are waiting on dental records to be obtained from out of state, but are comfortable in making the identification now.
Bennett says Heys is believed to have died one or two weeks ago and although the exact circumstances of his death is unknown, the medical examiner has ruled his death a drowning.
Foul play does not appear to be a factor.
