LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Four companies based along the Lakeshore were among 76 statewide who are being honored for being “veteran-friendly” employers.
Uniform Color Company earned “silver-level” status by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for meeting or exceeding veteran hiring goals, along with implementing internship and on-the-job training goals for veterans. Garnering “bronze-level” status for their veteran hiring policies and practices were Herman Miller, Holland Inc. and Perrigo Company.
According to agency officials, their Veteran-Friendly Employer program helps vets choose from job opportunities in a variety of industries and identifies employers committed to hiring and supporting veteran talent in their workforces, along with recognizing organizations dedicated to recruiting, hiring, training and maintaining veteran talent. This year, more than 2700 vets were hired by companies participating in this program.
Governor Snyder and MVAA Director Robert Redford conferred these honors during an Award and Recognition Breakfast in Lansing on Tuesday.
