POLKTON TWP, MI (WHTC) – A massive fire in Ottawa County resulted in the loss of two turkey barns.
Coopersville Fire Rescue called in several other Fire Departments to help on Saturday, December 3, around 1:45 p.m. to a turkey farm located near Garfield Street and 76th Avenue. Nine other stations helped control the blaze including Ravenna, Allendale and Casnovia Fire Departments.
Coopersville Fire Chief Scott Schoolcraft says they’re still trying to figure out how many turkeys were killed. It took about 40 minutes to get the fire under control because the area does not have fire hydrants.
Schoolcraft says they’re working to determine what caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
