LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Governor Snyder has moved to fill some governing board vacancies among public institutions of higher learning.
He tabbed Randy Damstra of Ada to fill the seat left by David Way on the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees. Damstra is the Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Private Equity for Ottawa Avenue Private Capital in Grand Rapids.
Mr. Snyder also reappointed Kate Pew Wolters of Grand Rapids to the GVSU Board. She is president of the Kate and Richard Wolters Foundation, the group that issues grants to non-profit organizations with a special emphasis on human service, the arts, education and people with disabilities.
In addition, the Governor selected James Haveman of Grand Haven to the Northern Michigan University Board, replacing Thomas Zurbuchen. The one-time state Department of Community Health Director is currently a trustee of the Grand Rapids Public Museum Foundation Board.
Pending state Senate approval, Damstra and Wolters will each serve a full eight-year term, while Haveman finishes up Zurbuchen’s term through 2020.
