BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC) – A house fire off of 96th Avenue near Tyler Street in Blendon Township this morning involved five fire departments and American Red Cross staffers among first responders.
Crews were called to the residence in the seven thousand block around 7:30 AM with a report that three residents inside at the time were able to safely escape. Despite a long driveway from the roadway to the house, causing some delays in getting water to the scene, it took about an hour to bring the blaze under control with no injuries among firefighters reported.
There was considerable smoke and water damage to the structure, with no dollar estimate immediately made, and while a cause of the fire was not immediately determined, investigators believe that the blaze started in the basement of the dwelling.
