WEST OLIVE (WHTC) – The Ottawa County board has a new chairman. Joe Baumann of Holland Township, who has served on the board since 2010, was elected Friday to the chairmanship during the board’s annual organizational meeting. Baumann had been vice chairman of the board the past two years under previous chairman Jim Holtrop, who did not run for re-election to the board last fall. He also served five years on the Holland Township board before joining the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Greg DeJong, of Allendale Township, moves into the vice chairman role. Commissioner Don Disselkoen of Holland stays on as chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, while Commissioner Phil Kuyers of Olive Township will retain his chairmanship of the Planning and Policy Committee. Commissioner Roger Bergman of Grand Haven becomes the chair of the Talent Development and Recruitment Committee.
