HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – One year to the day after Jose Hernandez was bludgeoned to death at a Park Township apartment complex, the first 2015 murder along the Lakeshore was reported yesterday.
Holland Public Safety officers were called to a unit at a West 40th Street apartment building before 4 PM, finding 22-year-old Derrick Ruff-Shingles of Posen, Illinois, in the Chicagoland area, with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at Holland Hospital. Witnesses say that a 5-8, medium-build black man in his early 20’s, wearing a white shirt with black pants, ran out after the shooting, but he has not been located.
