HOLLAND (WHTC) – Holland Public Safety officials say they are “getting closer” to finding the person responsible for the slaying of a 22-year-old Chicago-area man at the Harbor Village Apartments Monday. Derrick Ruff-Shingles was killed by a single shotgun blast to the chest at the apartment complex on West 40th Street. Captain Jack Dykstra says he’s not at liberty to say much more on where the investigation stands, but they are still looking for a black male, 5-8 to 5-9 in height, last seen wearing black pants and a white T-shirt with black lettering. Investigators have recovered the gun believed to be used in the shooting. Police say you can text a tip to them…text “OCMTIP” to 274637 and your message will get to investigators.
