HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – Another “swatting” incident, in which an online phone caller places a bomb threat to a building many miles away, may have occurred around 12 Noon yesterday on Holland’s North Side. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brent Converse, staffers at the CVS store off of Douglas Avenue and River Avenue received a call from a man with a “middle eastern accent,” asking that a prepaid credit card be activated and the number be given to him over the phone. When that request was denied, the unknown caller then said that a bomb had been placed in the building and hung up. The structure was evacuated and a thorough search conducted, but no explosives were found. Store management said that a number of CVS retailers had received similar threats and didn’t place much credence on this call. No suspects are in custody, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer.
