HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It appears that Davon Walker will celebrate his 18th birthday behind bars later this month in the Ottawa County Jail. Bond was kept at 200 thousand dollars following his arraignment yesterday on manslaughter and felony firearm charges stemming from the shooting death of Derrick Ruff-Shingles eight days ago. Walker was sought for three full days following the incident at a unit in the Harbor Village apartment complex before he surrendered to authorities last Thursday. A handgun allegedly fired once into the abdomen of the 22-year-old victim from the Chicagoland area was found in a dumpster near the crime scene. Court documents say that there had been no altercation at the unit, which was rented by Walker’s sister, prior to the shooting, and that alcohol and drugs were not factors. A January 26th date was set by Holland District Court Judge Brad Knoll for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, Walker could get up to 15 years in prison.
