HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – For perhaps the first time since Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day was established in 1986, Holland Public School students won’t have to be in the classroom on this legal holiday.
That doesn’t mean that they won’t have a chance to learn something, as special programs are planned throughout the day for elementary and middle-school students in the district at Holland City Hall. Superintendent Brian Davis said that, with pupils coming from over 40 different countries and speaking around 30 different languages, the lessons on diversity that come from Dr. King are crucial.
In addition, a free to the public historic color photo journey through the lens of Bernard Kleina will be displayed in the City Hall lobby today and tomorrow. More information on all of the planned activities is available on the City of Holland’s website.
