An Early Middle College program extends high school to five years, but instead of just a high school diploma, a student also comes out with an associates degree, which is the equivalent of getting two years of college for free. The cost is covered by the state per pupil grant all districts get from Lansing.
The Allegan County program announced Monday is aimed at launching students into four year programs to fine arts and business degrees, to improve the county’s college graduation rate.
